Ecuadorian banana production remained stable during the first quarter of 2022 despite encountering many challenges. A further price increase in fertilizers and cartons caused increased production costs, and a fight with FR4 has come under control this first quarter. The Russia-Ukraine war affected the banana industry since exports to these countries represent 23% of all Ecuadorian banana exports, and shipped containers had to be rerouted to other European markets at lower prices.
