The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Indonesia has reported an 8.81% increase in the country's agricultural sector exports in the January-February 2021 period, amounting to US $ 0.65 billion. This growth is attributed to the rising demand for medicinal plant products, aromatics, spices, white pepper, and non-timber forest products. In February 2021, agricultural exports experienced a 3.16% growth. The sector's positive growth contributes significantly to the national economy and makes up 94.36% of non-oil and gas exports. Furthermore, there was an increase in nominal wages for farm workers. The government's efforts to facilitate exports and improve market access are expected to continue boosting the sector's performance, aiding in the economic recovery.
