The National Association of Tobacco Producers in Bulgaria has announced that producers registered for 2022 will be eligible for aid to cover losses caused by the war in Ukraine. The aid application will open on September 1, and all registered producers will be able to apply, according to the Acting Minister of Agriculture, Yavor Gechev. This decision was made after a potential exclusion of tobacco producers from aid due to the financial instrument's connection to COVID-19 measures. Approximately 3,433 tobacco producers could benefit from this aid, and the association emphasizes that the sector contributes over BGN 2.5 billion to the Bulgarian budget every year.
