The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Bangladesh is promoting pesticide-free vegetable farming in char areas, which are prone to flooding and erosion, using eco-friendly technologies and organic fertilizers. This initiative has been adopted by hundreds of landless and marginal farmers in five districts, cultivating crops such as sweet pumpkin, brinjal, and spinach. The farmers have reported higher yields and profits from this method, as highlighted by the success of housewife Bijlee Begum from Kawnia upazila. Other farmers like Belal Hossain, Dulal Mian, Ful Mian, Monser Ali, and Dhirendra Nath have also experienced increased profits from this eco-friendly farming method.
