The Association of Pomegranate Producers and Exporters of Azerbaijan has warned manufacturers about the need to maintain fair prices for pomegranates, citing increased costs and a delayed harvest due to spring weather. The country's pomegranate harvest is expected to be on par with the previous year, with the majority of exports going to Russia. Azerbaijan is also looking to expand its export markets to the Middle East and EU, with several horticultural enterprises obtaining the GlobalG.A.P. certificate to enable sales in European markets. In 2021, Azerbaijan harvested 185,000 tons of pomegranates and exported 22,000 tons, generating an income of $29.3 million from fruit sales abroad.
