Thailand's mangosteen exports experienced a significant growth of over 21.8% from January to July 2021, despite the pandemic's impact, making it the country's third-largest export economic fruit variety. However, a sharp decrease in domestic prices and supply interruptions are expected to affect exports from September to December. The Kaitai Research Center predicts a total export value of 5.4-5.6 Billion U.S. dollars in 2021, with a projected increase of 14.6--18.8% from the previous year. The center emphasizes the need to address supply interruptions and improve Thailand's sustainable competitiveness by developing high-quality mangosteen varieties, advancing agricultural technology, and expanding to new markets. The growing competition from Indonesia, which has been supported by official policies, poses a threat to Thailand's market share in China.
