A five-year extension of the existing ban on the catch of four endangered fish species in Bulgarian waters of the Danube and Black Sea has been announced, effective from January 1, 2021. The species include the Russian sturgeon, chika, trout, and cod. Accidental catches of these fish should be immediately released, with details recorded in fishing logbooks. This extension is aimed at further protecting these endangered species, which are also safeguarded by international, European, and national legislation.
