Peanut Exports in Paraguay Reached a Record High of USD 19 Million
Paraguay's peanut exports in 2023 reached a record high of USD 19 million, surpassing the previous peak of USD 13.9 million in 2012. This represented a remarkable 296% year-on-year (YoY) increase compared to 2022's exports of USD 4.8 million. Additionally, Paraguay recorded its second-highest peanut export volume in 29 years, with 13.05 thousand metric tons (mt) shipped, only after the record set in 1999 with an export volume of 15.71 thousand m, marking a significant increase of 9.64 thousand mt (283%) from the previous year's export volume of 3.4 thousand mt.
Furthermore, the country shipped 1.44 thousand mt of peanuts in Jan-24, generating a revenue of USD 2 million, representing a significant YoY increase of 461% in volume and 658% in revenue compared to Jan-23.
Piura Region in Peru is Expected to Produce 200 mt of Organic Peanuts in 2024
Peanut cultivation area in Peru is approximately 3.5 thousand hectares (ha), most of which are distributed in the coastal valleys of Lima and Piura. In 2024, the Piura region is expected to produce 200 mt of organic peanuts with a yield of 6 mt/ha. Agriculture association CAES Piura is the leading organization dedicated to producing and exporting this product. The primary importing countries are Germany, the Netherlands, France, Spain, the United States (US), and China.
