The Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex, initials in Portuguese) of the Ministry of Economy released the results of agricultural exports in August. Beef, pork and chicken exports grew in comparison to last year. Shipments of fresh, chilled or frozen beef totalled 163.2 thousand tons, 20.8% above the 135.1 thousand tons exported in August 2019. The average price of the ton advanced 3.97% in the same comparison, reaching USD 4,008.30. Exports of chicken meat (poultry meat and its edible offal, fresh, chilled or frozen) totalled 340.6 thousand tons, an increase of 1.8% in comparison with the 334.5 thousand tons of the same month of 2019. Finally, sales abroad of fresh, chilled or frozen pork increased in August 2019 compared to the same period last year, reaching 87.7 thousand tons, a jump of 78.9% over the 49 thousand tons shipped in August 2019.
