The purchase price of raw cow's milk in our country is 8 to 20% below the EU average

The purchase price of Bulgarian raw cow's milk is about 10 percent lower than the average in the European Union. According to data from the European Commission for the month of December 2022, the average purchase price in the EU is about 58 euro cents, and in our country about 52 cents. The highest price for raw cow's milk is received by livestock farmers in Ireland - 69 euro cents. The cheapest is paid to cattle breeders in Slovakia – 46 euro cents. In France, Latvia and Lithuania, the purchase is also below the Bulgarian prices and is between 49 and 51 euro cents per kg. Dairy producers from neighboring Greece and Romania sell raw milk for around 60 euro cents. Bulgarian purchase prices for cow's milk have moved by 7-8 to 20 percent below the European average in the last three years, another Brussels graph shows.
